Mission Statement

We make it simple for you to explore and analyse Israel’s biodiversity

The aim of the BioGIS system is to allow professionals and the public at large to explore and analyze Israel’s biodiversity in a simple and straightforward manner.
The principal goal of BioGIS is to integrate existing information on the composition and geographical distribution of the flora and fauna of Israel in a unified open-access Geographical Information System (GIS) that is available to the public on the Internet and equipped with user-friendly, state-of-the-art tools for data analysis and visualization. The system is being developed as a long-term, dynamic database, and reflects the current state of knowledge on the distribution of plant and animal species in Israel.
