BioClim
Pay attention – the model is based on the records selected using the “Selection tool”
BIOCLIM model defines the ecological niche of a species as the bounding hyper-box that encloses all the records of the species in the climatic space (Busby, 1991). Thus, it creates a rectilinear ‘envelope’ in the environmental space, defined by the most extreme (minimum and maximum) records of the species on each environmental variable. To reduce the sensitivity of model predictions to outliers, the species records are sorted along each variable and only the records that lie within a certain percentile range of the data are used for model construction (In BioGIS 90% and 95%).
